nymoen strategieberatung GmbH

Located in Berlin, nymoen|strategieberatung (nsb) is a Germany-wide consulting agency. It offers strategic, economic, political and organisational advice to municipalities and companies that are active in the traditional markets of public services, in particular the energy industry. The realisation of the energy transition, the conducting and development of studies, comprehensive concepts and products ready for implementation to increase energy efficiency are the current key questions for consulting. Renewable energy, climate protection at the local level and the development of power plant projects and supply concepts complement this part of our portfolio. The heating market occupies a prominent position in the consulting scope of nsb. With heating market analyses, renovation roadmaps, supply tools and efficiency products for heating market players, nsb is the competent partner for district developers.

Short description of the project contribution

Simulation and monitoring of the efficient district heat evolution with Smart Heat

For the district concepts in Marienthal and Prenzlauer Berg, nymoen|strategieberatung cooperates with enersis to provide the 3D / Big Data software Smart Heat. In this cooperation, nymoen|strategieberatung invests its expertise in the energy industry. The district managers can use the online platform for simulations, forecasts and monitoring of district heat evolution. Smart Heat is a valuable Big Data planning support and communication instrument for the dialogue with all owners and interested players involved in the district.

Smart Heat enables the systematic analysis of large georeferenced data volumes on the local residential building portfolio (age category, renovation state, energy sources, technology mix, infrastructure, ...) and takes into account the socio-economic parameters of the consumers.

With Smart Heat, the heat-based energetic status quo of the district is determined and its evolution is simulated for the next years. The software solution evaluates the results in the form of diagrams, maps and 3D projections, including individual renovation roadmaps. This is how it enables an accurate view of the district heating related to primary energy / end consumption and CO2 emissions for the status quo and future points in time, if necessary until 2050. In addition to energy balancing, investment requirements are outlined and cost-benefit analyses are provided to building owners.

In the course of the project, Smart Heat is used to simulate and monitor the evolution of district heating for both model districts, Marienthal and Prenzlauer Berg.

The objective is to determine the current situation in the districts by means of the software solution and perform simulations of its future evolution. This involves the analysis of heat-related changes, efficiency increases, decrease of CO2 emissions through renovation measures and the deduction of an optimised renovation roadmap for the buildings.
