“WindNODE Live!” in the Dresden Cultural Palace

Digitisation of the energy transition: exhibition shows smart energy solutions for the future

On 25 March 2019, the “WindNODE Live!” exhibition opened in the central library in the Dresden Cultural Palace. Until Friday 12 April 2019, the travelling exhibition shows which challenges the digitisation and the energy transition entail. It shows what solutions for a smart energy supply with more renewable energy can look like. The energy transition is experienced interactively and through multimedia. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 10 am and 7 pm. Admission is free.

One third of the German energy mix is already generated from renewable sources. The next step is to determine how larger volumes of renewable energy can be integrated into the energy system and the power grid can be kept stable at the same time. After all, the feed-in of renewable energy depends on external factors, such as the availability of sun and wind. The immediately required electricity volume cannot always be generated. “The energy transition is still very abstract for many people. It is therefore important to talk to citizens and promote acceptance. This is why we brought the exhibition to our city. Here, anyone interested can experience the transformation process in the energy industry”, says dr. Robert Franke, head of the Economic Development Office of federated state capital Dresden.

In the scope of the exhibition, an information meeting about climate protection and renewable energy will be held as well. “We invite the citizens of Dresden of all ages to engage in discussion and to participate. Experts will provide illustrative and entertaining information on climate protection and energy and establish a practical link to everyday life, such as how energy can be used sustainably”, Franke continues.
