The buzzword trap: digitisation, energy transition, big data and what do I have to do with any of it?

On 6 May 2019, re:publica19, which is taking place this year under the motto ‘tl;dr’ (Internet slang for too long; didn't read), the session ‘The buzzword trap: digitisation, energy transition, big data and what do I have to do with any of it?’ is offered on stage 3 from 1.45 to 2.45 pm:

Buzzwords are all the rage. Many describe processes, many objectives, many are mere place holders. Energy transition, digitisation, big data etc. During the session, we want to shine a light on these buzzwords and discuss the link between the social transformation processes of the energy transition and the digitisation. The key question should be how individuals will be affected by these processes today, tomorrow and the day after.

Using the starting point of the WindNODE showcase for smart energy systems, experts from the energy and digital industry ask themselves which changes, opportunities and risks arise from the digital energy transition.

  • How do companies respond to the changed framework conditions and the new mindset of customers and employees?
  • How can transparency be created through participation and openness (buzzword: open data) to further the energy transition and therefore an added value for all of society?
  • Which apps, instruments and business models does this require and what should perhaps not be realised for reasons of data protection, data security and the security of supply in the energy system?
  • Do we need (legal) restrictions for the digitisation of the energy transition or does regulation limit any progress?
  • ... and what do I have to do with any of it?

Here you can directly go to the session on the re:publica website.
