Power System Simulator

Research, Education & Public Relations. For the future of electric power supply.

The Power System Simulator (PSS) presents the processes in the grid operations management of the actual transmission grid in eastern Germany in a practical and operationally realistic manner.

The goal is to study and research the effects that the increasing feed-in of renewable energy into the electricity grid has on grid operations management in the current and future context. This is  the scope of the subproject SMART Capital Region 2.0, which is part of the larger WindNODE model region supported by SINTEG.

The PSS offers insight into the application of an operational grid control system which shows an actually existing electricity grid. The simulator also contains comprehensive power plant models and realistic load flow diagrams, which can be used to simulate the practical and dynamic operational performance of grid management.

The rooms of the Power System Simulator can be visited to experience the network operation of normal and critical network situations in eastern Germany and to train at 14 workstations.
